Nashville, Tenn. (December 7, 2015) - One of the most successful and endearing artists in the history of Christian music, Point of Grace, has added to its long list of accolades with today's announcement of the trio's third career GRAMMY® nomination. The multi-platinum group's April 7, 2015 release, Directions Home (Songs We Love, Songs You Know), is nominated in the category of Best Roots Gospel Album (Category 40). Point of Grace has career sales of over 8 million albums, alongside 27 No. 1 songs at radio, 24 of which were consecutive.
"We are so honored and excited to be nominated for a GRAMMY this year in the Roots Gospel Album category!" shared Point of Grace's Shelley Breen. "We really have to credit Andy Leftwich for co-producing something we are incredibly proud of. This is our third nomination over the course of our 25 year career - we haven't had a win yet - here's hoping the third time's a charm!"
Directions Home is the first album Point of Grace co-produced, alongside Andy Leftwich, who is also Ricky Skaggs' fiddle player and a member of the GRAMMY® Award-winning ensemble, Kentucky Thunder.
It is also the group's first album primarily comprised of cover songs, including well-known hits like Carrie Underwood's "Something in the Water," Phillip Phillips' "Home" and Trace Adkins' "You're Gonna Miss This," among others. Special appearances by superstars Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs further set this album apart from many of their previous projects, while widening their reach into the country music world.
"Directions Home has so many layers of meaning for us," shares Shelley Breen. "It represents our past, where we are now, and most importantly, where we are ultimately going - home. Our hope for this project is that people will find encouragement in the lyrics, that they will feel emotions that will bring them great memories and a touch of nostalgia, but the higher purpose of everything on this record is to point listeners to the cross of Christ, which is the only way to truly find our way home."
